Although there are no pubs or restaurants within (reasonable) walking distance there are some very good ones slightly further afield.

The Hundred House, Purslow (2.4 miles)

Typical country pub with good beer and reasonable wine. Recently changed management and not sure of quality of food.

The Crown, Clunton (4 miles)

Great atmosphere with good beer and excellent wines. Gem of a pub with great landlady (Michelle). Limited menu but food is excellent and worth a visit.

The Lion Hotel, Leintwardine (4.4 miles)

Very welcoming pub by the river. Often floods in the winter but great garden in the summer. Good beer and wine and the food is good and not too expensive. Has a restaurant and tables in the bar area.

The Sun Inn, Leintwardine (4.5 miles)

Locals’ pub, but visitors are welcome too. Beer and wine are good but doesn’t do food, other than usual bar snacks. Nice garden in the summer.

The Oak, Wigmore (8 miles)

Foodies pub, with a Michelin-trained local chef. Many people’s favourite, and slightly more expensive. Often has special tasting menus etc. Need to book.

The Clive Arms, Bromfield (9 miles)

Part of the Ludlow Farm Centre and again similar to the Oak and Riverside in quality. All the meat comes from the farm and is reared locally. Need to book. The shop is also well worth a visit.

The Riverside, Aymestry (12 miles)

Probably our favourite and similar to the Oak at Wigmore in terms of quality and price. Beautiful garden up above the pub in summer. Need to book.

Pubs and Restaurants in Ludlow (12 miles)

There are many restaurants in Ludlow, which used to have an amazing reputation for fine dining. Our favourites are:

The French Pantry

Tiny little restaurant with a French chef. Great ambience and really feels like a bistro in some little town in rural France. Small menu but food is excellent. Definitely need to book as it has rather strange opening hours.

Athena Greek Taverna

Friendly, authentic Greek restaurant which hosts monthly jazz nights.

The Corner House

Interesting restaurant which has Fish Friday and occasional Japanese nights.

Charlton Arms Hotel

Claude Bosi and his brother Cedric ran the famous Hibiscus restaurant in Ludlow, which was awarded 2 Michelin stars. They moved to London but Cedric decided to return to Ludlow and bought the Charlton Arms, which has recently been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand.

 The Church Inn

Pub in the centre of town, also owned by Claude and Cedric Bosi, with really good food. Especially worth a lunchtime visit.

Rose and Crown

Almost next door to The Church Inn is a more traditional pub, rather than a restaurant, but the food is good pub grub, especially for lunch.

The closest to a Michelin-starred restaurant is probably Mortimers on Corve Street, but we haven’t been there yet. Expensive. Need to book.
